Graham Dwyer’s murder trial at the Central Criminal Court heard evidence about flying-club events and his work records. He is charged with murdering childcare worker Elaine O’Hara on 22 August 2012. He has pleaded not guilty. The proceedings were reported on 9 February 2015.
John Flynn, one of the owners of Roundwood Model Aeronautical Club, checked its diaries at the request of Sean Guerin SC, for the prosecution. He said there was no event on 22 August 2012 because it was a Wednesday. The jury also saw clips of Dwyer at the club, allegedly filmed on 19 August 2012 during its family day.
Siobhán McEvitt, manager at A & D Wejchert, told the court that records suggested Dwyer worked a normal eight-hour day on 22 August 2012. However, she said she had no means of verifying this. The records also indicated an eight-hour day on 23 August 2012. Asked by Mr Justice Tony Hunt about staff input, she confirmed that employees filled in blank time sheets she sent them.
Patrick Kenny, of Shankill Radio Flying Club, described a dead sheep found behind its clubhouse. He was reasonably sure he had seen it in early summer 2012. Denis Brennan said he initially did not recall the sheep, but remembered it after talking to other members. Asked by Remy Farrell SC, for Dwyer, whether gardaí had prompted him, he said they had not asked him about the sheep; he had told them. The trial continued.
