Graham Daly’s appeal against his eight-and-a-half-year sentence for rape was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 30 January 2024. The offending took place between 1998 and 2002, mostly in the family home in Raheen, County Limerick.
The court found no error in the sentencing judge’s approach. It said the offending was persistent, escalated in seriousness and involved multiple aggravating factors. Daly was aged between 14 and 18 during the offences; the sentencing judge had imposed the term because of his age at the time.
