This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Gordon McKenna, 79, has been jailed for seven years after pleading guilty to indecently assaulting his daughter at locations including their family home in Dublin, on dates between 1977 and 1983. He had previously denied the charges and entered his guilty plea before trial began at the Central Criminal Court.

The court heard that the abuse ended when McKenna left the family home after his daughter, then 13, told her mother she was “the other woman”. The daughter later applied for counselling records, and the abuse came to the attention of gardaí and Tusla in 2018. The judge described the offending as grooming and manipulation and said the harm to the daughter was immense.

The judge imposed concurrent 16-month terms for earlier offences and a consecutive term of five years and eight months for later offences. She said a post-release supervision order was not necessary.
