This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Glen McEnroe was jailed for four years, with the final 12 months suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Melanie Greally imposed the sentence, backdated to 21 December 2020, and the proceedings were reported on 1 June 2022.

McEnroe pleaded guilty to robbing a cash box containing €19,300 in Dublin city centre on 15 December 2020. The court heard he helped set the box alight after another man stole it from a cash-in-transit van; McEnroe said his role was to dispose of it and that he had been threatened.

Judge Greally described McEnroe’s role as very limited and specific but said the robbery was planned and premeditated. The judge credited his early plea, steps addressing drug addiction, favourable probation report and custody courses; his barrister also said he had 36 previous convictions and that a residential treatment placement had fallen through.
