Glen Kavanagh was sentenced to 10 years for unlawful firearm possession at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 17 May 2019. The offence followed a post office raid at Woodbine Park Post Office, Blackrock, on 19 January 2016.

Kavanagh had pleaded guilty to robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. The court heard that he held a Makarov pistol to a customer’s head and fired eight shots during the raid.

Judge Melanie Greally backdated the firearm sentence to January 2018, after considering his guilty plea, assistance to the investigation and drug addiction. Sentencing on the robbery charge was adjourned to 31 July for a probation report.
