Glen Conroy was sentenced to 18 months in prison for assaulting a prison officer, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 26 July 2017. The sentence was imposed consecutively to his existing six-year term and followed his conviction for assault causing harm at Mountjoy Prison. Conroy had attacked Officer Paul Brady after complaining that his new cell had no television.

The court heard Brady suffered facial injuries and was unable to work for one month. Judge Martin Nolan took account of Conroy’s remorse and his time already spent in custody before imposing the consecutive sentence.
