Geovane Ferrnandes was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for possessing cocaine for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 23 October 2024; the term was backdated to his entry into custody in March.

Judge Orla Crowe set a six-year headline sentence before imposing the three-and-a-half-year term. Ferrnandes pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine worth €489,790 for sale or supply at Terminal One, Dublin Airport, on 18 March 2024, after carrying 6.7kg in his luggage.

The court heard he had been offered about €2,000 to carry the drugs but received no payment. His counsel said his daughter has severe asthma and needs frequent hospital treatment.
