George Crombie was jailed for two and a half years for sexually assaulting a child at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 28 November 2016. The assaults took place in the family home in Ringsend, Dublin, between February 2004 and December 2006.
Crombie pleaded guilty to eight counts involving his stepdaughter, who was aged between 10 and 13 during the three-year period. The court heard that he put a dog lead around her neck during one assault and threatened her if she told her mother.
Judge Melanie Greally imposed concurrent sentences totalling two and a half years, after noting Crombie’s admissions had spared the girl a trial. He had made full and immediate admissions when interviewed by gardaí.
