Gemma O’Doherty was brought before the High Court on 10 April 2024 after her arrest over alleged contempt of court for breaching an injunction against harassment.
Mr Justice Conor Dignam adjourned the application, which could result in her imprisonment, to later that week so she could obtain legal representation and the relevant case documents. She was released from Garda custody after the hearing.
The injunction restrains O’Doherty from harassing or intimidating Edel Campbell and from disclosing confidential information about Campbell and her family. It also requires the removal of images of Campbell and her late son from media under O’Doherty’s control.
O’Doherty rejected the allegations and told the judge she had never harassed anyone or met Campbell. Campbell’s lawyer said the motion followed O’Doherty’s refusal to comply with the injunction. O’Doherty said she had removed the image of Campbell’s son as a gesture of goodwill.
