This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Gay Byrne settled a €1.2m loan repayment dispute in the High Court’s commercial wing on 1 February 2018, when the case was struck out.

The dispute concerned €1m borrowed from Bank of Scotland (Ireland) in 2007 to invest in a property fund linked to financier Derek Quinlan. Feniton Property Finance, which acquired the loan in 2015, had sought repayment after the debt increased to more than €1.2m. The case also named Byrne’s wife Kathleen Watkins and daughters Suzy and Crona as members of the Clonskeagh Partnership.

The settlement followed negotiations between the parties, but no details of the agreement were given in court.
