Further remand in custody for Louth €1m drugs accused

Two men charged in connection with an alleged €1 million drugs seizure have been further remanded in custody.
Stephen McGuane (45) and Ciarán McParland (41) both of Bellingham Green, Castlebellingham, are each accused of unlawful possession of cannabis and having the drug for sale or supply at that address on April 1 last.
They were initially brought before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court on Good Friday, when Mr McParland’s bail application was refused.
Mr McGuane was remanded in custody with consent to bail in his own bond of €10,000, with a €5,000 cash lodgement, and an independent surety of €20,000, and other conditions.
The two defendants re-appeared in court separately via video link.
Ciarán McParland was remanded in custody to Drogheda Court on April 20 for DPP directions, as was Stephen McGuane with consent to bail in his case.
