Freddie Thompson’s murder trial was adjourned at the Special Criminal Court until Wednesday. The proceedings were reported on 30 April 2018.
Thompson, of Loreto Road, Maryland, Dublin 8, is charged with murdering David Douglas at Bridgefoot Street, Dublin, on 1 July 2016. Douglas, a 55-year-old father of one, died after being shot outside the entrance to the Shoestown shop on Bridgefoot Street.
Defence counsel Michael O' Higgins told the court that a good part of the case would not be in dispute and that it would concern what happened meant rather than what happened. He said there were outstanding disclosure issues, one of which was significant and would take the greater part of the day.
O' Higgins applied for an adjournment and prosecuting counsel Sean Gillane agreed. Gillane told the three judges that the disclosure request had been generated in recent times. Mr Justice Tony Hunt remanded Thompson in custody to appear again at the Special Criminal Court on Wednesday.
