Francis Foster has sued the Garda Commissioner and State over alleged assault and false imprisonment in the High Court, in a case reported on 1 July 2015.

He alleges that Garda Emergency Response Unit members mistakenly raided his Nicholas Street flat in Dublin on 19 July 2013, while the defendants deny parts of his account and accept they entered the wrong dwelling.

The case continued before Mr Justice John Hedigan and a jury.
