Francis Foster settled his alleged assault and false imprisonment action at the High Court on 2 July 2015. The case arose after Gardaí mistakenly raided his flat on Nicholas Street, Dublin, in 2013.

The Garda Commissioner, Ireland and the Attorney General accepted the wrong premises had been entered but denied assault, false imprisonment and constitutional breaches. The settlement was announced following talks, the case could be struck out, and no settlement details were disclosed.
