Four senior bankers have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to mislead investors at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 19 February 2016. The accused are Peter Fitzpatrick, Denis Casey, Willie McAteer and John Bowe.

The trial heard that Anglo Irish Bank proposed an overnight “back-to-back” transaction with Credit Suisse in September 2008 to increase its year-end corporate deposit figure.

Credit Suisse later rejected the proposal, while the four men are accused of using interbank loans to make Anglo appear €7.2 billion more valuable than it was. The trial continued before Judge Martin Nolan.
