Fayed Azeez remanded over assault causing harm

By Cathal Brosnan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Fayed Azeez pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing harm at Blanchardstown District Court on 6 September 2022. He was remanded in custody until 10 July 2023, when the case was due to be finalised, following a remand decision reported as having been made on 6 July 2023.

The report said Azeez had gone to the courthouse to collect his cousin and was trying to help him. The investigating garda accepted that Azeez did not use or threaten the injured party with the hammer, that her injuries resulted from tugging and squeezing rather than being struck, and that Azeez was cooperative after his arrest.

Judge Martin Nolan warned Azeez that continuing on that path could mean spending more time in custody. The report said Azeez had no previous convictions, had not come to garda attention since the incident, and that his solicitor handed in an apology and €500 as a token of remorse.
