Farah Damji extradition upheld over stalking sentence

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Supreme Court upheld Farah Damji’s extradition to the UK for stalking-type offences and restraining-order breaches in a judgment reported on 16 June 2022.

Damji had been convicted in her absence at Southwark Crown Court after breaching a restraining order twice in April and June 2018, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

The five-judge Supreme Court dismissed her appeal, finding the evidence did not establish that she would be denied reasonable treatment during the short period remaining on her sentence.

The court said the High Court’s extradition decision had not been shown to be legally wrong, while arrangements for surrender remained a matter for the High Court.
