Edward Connors remanded over alleged probation breaches

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Edward Connors was remanded in custody at Belfast Magistrates' Court on 7 April 2014 over alleged failures to notify police of an address change and plans to travel outside the UK. Bail was refused by District Judge Bagnall.

The report said Connors had been extradited after allegedly breaching conditions imposed following his release from an eight-year prison sentence with two years' probation for raping an American tourist in 2008.

Seeking bail, Sean Devine said Connors had married and become a father in the previous month, found hostel life difficult and was not a hardened criminal. Connors was prepared to wear an electronic tag and observe a curfew, but Judge Bagnall said she had no confidence he would allow himself to be properly monitored. The report said he was due to appear again the following month. The proceedings were reported on 8 April 2014.
