Eddie Valentine received a two-year fully suspended sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 8 March 2019 for stealing a cash register. The theft happened at Leisureplex, Stillorgan, during a children’s birthday party on 4 May 2017.
The court heard that the till contained €95 and four vending-machine keys. Valentine pleaded guilty, and Judge Karen O’Connor ordered him to remain under Probation Services supervision for 12 months and follow directions on education and drug-addiction treatment.
The judge set a three-year headline sentence before reducing it because of mitigating factors including Valentine’s early guilty plea and chronic drug addiction.
