ER Travel Ltd, trading as Easirent.com, failed to secure injunctions against the Dublin Airport Authority at the High Court on 21 May 2019. The company sought to continue collecting customers from Dublin Airport pending a full hearing of its dispute with the DAA.
Mr Justice Tony O’Connor found that damages would be an adequate remedy for both parties, despite Easirent raising a compelling issue to be tried. He directed the dispute, which centres on an allegation of anti-competitive conduct in the car-rental market, to the High Court competition list for an early full hearing.
The DAA denies the allegation and maintains that permission is required for businesses collecting clients at the airport.
