Eamonn Walsh was given a three-year suspended sentence for tax evasion at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 9 June 2021. He had pleaded guilty to six sample charges involving unpaid VAT, failures to make income tax returns and incorrect returns over five years from 2009.
The court was told Walsh had charged VAT while not registered and had failed to declare income. His unpaid VAT and income tax totalled €60,618, and Revenue had received a bank draft for the money in the preceding week. Judge Martin Nolan considered his guilty plea, co-operation, lack of previous convictions and other factors before imposing the suspended sentence on condition of good behaviour.
