The High Court dismissed Georgina Saunders’ €250,000 life-insurance claim concerning Eamon Dunne’s death, as reported on 24 June 2020.

Irish Life was entitled to refuse the payout after the judgment found Dunne had failed to disclose past drug and alcohol misuse and depression when taking out the policy in 2008.

Dunne was shot dead in Dublin in April 2010 while attending a birthday party at a pub. The judgment also found he was obliged to correct inaccurate health information given to the insurer, even if he was not prompted to do so.
