Dublin teenager jailed for burglary and taxi-driver robberies

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A Dublin teenager was sentenced to three years’ detention, with the final two years suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 22 January 2015. He had pleaded guilty to burgling his neighbour and robbing two taxi drivers. The court heard the offences involved threats and the theft of money and a taxi.

Judge Martin Nolan said custody was a last resort for a child but that society needed protection. The teenager cannot be named for legal reasons, and the judge said a probation report identified difficulties and doubts about whether he could stop offending.
