A 44-year-old Dublin man who cannot be named to protect his child’s anonymity was jailed for two years and nine months after a high-speed chase in March 2023 with his 13-year-old son in the car. The pursuit reached 160km/h on the M50 and ended after the man collided with two Garda cars. No one was injured.
The man pleaded guilty to two counts of endangerment, two of dangerous driving and one of driving without insurance. Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence after reducing a six-year headline term to account for mitigating factors, including the guilty plea and co-operation with gardaí. He also disqualified the man from driving for six years.
