Frienna Rockett was given a suspended 17-month sentence and disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to careless driving causing serious bodily harm. The offence arose from a December 16, 2022 incident in Crumlin, where her car struck an 81-year-old woman at a pedestrian crossing.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard Rockett had taken her eyes off the road while looking for her sister’s home and drove through a red light. The pedestrian suffered a brain bleed, fractures to her legs, pelvis and clavicle, and a dislocated shoulder.
Judge Pauline Codd set a 21-month headline sentence, reduced it to 17 months after considering mitigation, and suspended the sentence. She said Rockett’s carelessness was more than a momentary lapse.
