Dr Salah Aziz Ahmed faced allegations of professional misconduct and poor professional performance at a Medical Council inquiry reported on 10 November 2016. The allegations concern his care of three mothers at Cavan General Hospital, including claims that he delayed an emergency Caesarean section in November 2012.
The inquiry heard that Patient One’s baby was born in very poor condition on 22 November 2012 and died 32 hours later. Counsel for Dr Aziz told the inquiry that his actions were not causative of the death.
The allegations also include failures in counselling about delivery after Caesarean section and alleged delays in assessing another patient. The inquiry was continuing.
