Dominic Óg McGlinchey’s High Court action against the Louth coroner over documents relating to the 1996 inquest into his father’s death was likely to be resolved. The proceedings were reported on 17 May 2022.
McGlinchey, of Tuam, Co Galway, brought proceedings against coroner Ronan Maguire over an alleged failure to furnish documents and files relating to the inquest. His father, INLA leader Dominic McGlinchey, was shot dead while making a call from a phone box in Drogheda in February 1994.
LMFM reported that, according to the Irish Independent, the coroner had indicated he would provide all the relevant material to McGlinchey and that this should resolve the matter. The material was understood to be sought so the family could assess what reviews of the murder investigation had been undertaken by Gardaí.
