Digital Motor gets provisional liquidator over Car Buyers Guide

By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Digital Motor Limited had a provisional liquidator appointed by the High Court on 19 December 2017 after the judge found it insolvent and unable to pay its debts. The company owned and operated the Car Buyers Guide website in Dublin and employed 22 people. Counsel said all 22 had been made redundant because the company was unable to pay wages.

Mr Justice Tony O'Connor appointed insolvency practitioner Anthony Weldon of Kieran Ryan and Company to the role. Bristol Mallory Ltd, a creditor and 100% shareholder, told the court Digital Motor owed it €1.14m after relying on its loans while operating at a loss.

The provisional liquidator was given powers including securing the company’s assets and was to oversee a possible sale of the website. The matter was adjourned to January.
