By Aoife Loughran

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Diarmuid Phelan was acquitted of murdering Keith Conlon by a Central Criminal Court jury on 3 January 2025.

The jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict after considering whether Phelan intended to kill or seriously injure Conlon, or acted in self-defence. The trial concerned the shooting at Hazelgrove Farm in Tallaght, Dublin.

In September 2025, the trial judge awarded Phelan legal costs on the legal aid scale after the acquittal. The Irish Times reported on 5 November 2025 that the award was likely to fall short of his estimated €1.25 million bill.
