Deirdre Morley was committed to the Central Mental Hospital for further inpatient treatment after being found not guilty by reason of insanity of murdering her three children. The Central Criminal Court made the order, with Mr Justice Paul Coffey satisfied that she continued to suffer from a mental disorder and needed inpatient care. Morley had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to murdering Conor McGinley, Darragh McGinley and Carla McGinley. The report said she had suffered a severe psychotic depressive illness and believed the children had been irreparably damaged by her illness and parenting. The proceedings were reported on 8 June 2021. Her detention is subject to regular six-monthly reviews, which may result in continued detention, discharge, or discharge subject to treatment or supervision conditions.
