David Slattery was jailed for three years for obtaining a child for sexual exploitation and possessing child sexual abuse material at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 9 April 2025.
The court heard that Slattery befriended a 16-year-old girl on Snapchat in summer 2023, took her to a hotel twice and gave her money and alcohol.
Slattery pleaded guilty to obtaining a child for sexual exploitation and possessing child sexual abuse material. Defence counsel said he believed both girls were 17 at the time.
Judge Martin Nolan described Slattery’s behaviour as serious and said he must serve a prison term. A second girl, aged about 13, had sent the images and videos found on his device.
