The High Court heard on 3 July 2023 that David ‘Dave’ Macardle’s action against his employer, Siteridge Limited, which trades as RedFM, had been resolved and could be struck out. No details of any agreement were given in open court.
Macardle, who presents ‘Dave Mac’s Drive’, alleged that the station had demanded he broadcast from Cork five weekdays instead of continuing an arrangement under which he presented from Dublin three days a week. He claimed the change breached his employment contract and feared reputational damage if another presenter hosted the programme.
The station denied the claims and any wrongdoing, and had told the court it intended to oppose the proceedings.
Ms Justice Eileen Roberts had earlier granted a temporary ex parte injunction allowing Macardle to present the show under the usual arrangements. The order covered the scheduled broadcasts on 25 and 26 May 2023.
The temporary order was later replaced by undertakings that, pending the outcome of the action, Macardle could present from Cork two days a week and Dublin three days a week. The station also agreed that nobody else would present the programme and that it would take no steps to terminate his position while proceedings were pending.
