David Drumm was jailed for six years for conspiracy to defraud the public and false accounting at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 24 June 2018.

The former Anglo Irish Bank chief executive was found guilty of both charges after a 16-week trial concerning transactions valued at €7.2 billion.

The Journal reported that Judge Karen O’Connor described Drumm’s behaviour as grossly reprehensible while the bank was losing money. His lawyers had accepted that the transactions took place but disputed that they were fraudulent or dishonest.
