David Church was jailed for five years for social welfare fraud at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 16 January 2015.

He had pleaded guilty to 13 sample counts after using false identities to claim almost €480,000 in payments through Dublin post offices over 12 years.

The court heard that the fraud was uncovered when facial-image matching showed the same photograph on several welfare identities.

Church, who had faced 199 charges, was ordered to serve the sentence after admitting the offending and had no previous convictions.
