This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Darren Dowling was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of eight counts of oral rape and three counts of indecent assault against his cousin Alan Murphy. The offences took place at a Clondalkin address between 1990 and 1993, when Murphy was a young child. Murphy waived his anonymity.

The convictions followed a Central Criminal Court trial in July 2024. Dowling, who was extradited from Jersey to face trial, had three previous convictions there, including one that resulted in a nine-month sentence for indecent messages about abusing children.
