Daniel Murtagh has appealed his murder conviction at the Court of Appeal. The proceedings were reported on 1 July 2022.
He had pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murder; the State rejected that plea, and a unanimous jury convicted him of murdering Nadine Lott.
Murtagh received a mandatory life sentence from Mr Justice Michael MacGrath in October last year, after a trial at the Central Criminal Court.
His appeal required affidavits from the defence, with the first sworn and filed. The case was due back at the Court of Appeal for mention on 15 July, while no full hearing date had been set.
