By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

D2 Private Ltd won permission to challenge inspectors’ powers in the High Court on 23 May 2016, concerning the Clerys collective-redundancy investigation. The company and its owner, Deirdre Foley, disputed the inspectors’ authority to enter premises and take documents and a laptop.

Mr Justice Anthony Hunt refused an application to return the laptop, directing that a forensic copy be made and preserved pending further order. He adjourned the matter for mention on Wednesday, when the new legal term began.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
