This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Craig Smith received an 18-month suspended sentence in connection with a city-centre attack on D’Olier Street in Dublin.

Garda Wayne Donnelly said Smith and three other men were sitting in a parked car when a fight broke out between two women known to the group. The men broke up that fight before turning on Lee Whelan and Dylan Campbell, who were passing by.

The court heard that Whelan was knocked to the ground and that Jason Hennessy and another accused returned to the car and took a hammer and an iron bar. Campbell was hit with the hammer and Whelan with the iron bar. Both were taken to hospital.

The report listed Smith among three co-accused who had previously been sentenced by the court. Jordan McGuinness received a 12-month suspended sentence, while Dylan Murray was ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service in lieu of a nine-month sentence.
