Craig O'Halloran has gone on trial accused of murdering Kevin Kenny on Sarsfield Road, Ballyfermot, on 31 July 2011. He denies the murder. The proceedings were reported on 19 March 2015.
Opening the case, the prosecution told the jury it would hear evidence that Craig O'Halloran was at Ruby Finnegan's pub on the night of the stabbing. Kevin Kenny and his brother Stephen were in one of two groups that arrived at the bar just before 9pm.
The report said there was a fracas outside within ten minutes, which was caught on CCTV. It was alleged that the Kenny brothers chased a man up Sarsfield Road and were in turn chased by Craig O'Halloran, who was accused of stabbing Kevin Kenny a number of times.
Kevin Kenny, a 32-year-old electrician, returned to the front of the pub, where he collapsed. He was later pronounced dead in hospital. The trial was expected to last until the end of the following week.
