Craig O'Donnell's aggravated burglary appeal dismissed

By Cathal Brosnan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Craig O'Donnell’s appeal against his sentence for aggravated burglary was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 2 July 2018; he had received a total 10-year sentence, with the final 18 months suspended, at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court on 5 May 2017.

The offences, committed in Limerick in 2014, also included burglary, robbery, possession of a bladed article, firearm offences and escape from lawful custody.

The Court of Appeal held that the sentencing judge had adequately considered the aggravating and mitigating factors and rejected the argument that a greater reduction was warranted.
