The Court of Appeal reserved judgment in Andrew Leigh’s appeal against his convictions for historic sexual assaults on three girls. His lawyers argued that two charges should have been tried separately. The proceedings were reported on 28 July 2025.

Leigh pleaded not guilty to sexual assaults committed between March 1996 and June 2005. A jury at the Central Criminal Court convicted him on a number of counts on 18 December 2023. Mr Justice David Keane sentenced him to four years in prison.

His counsel, Michael Bowman SC, argued that the main connection between two incidents was that both took place in a car. He also questioned whether there was sufficient evidence that Leigh knew his conduct was gravely wrong. Patrick Gageby SC, for the Director of Public Prosecutions, argued that the assaults were similar in nature and that there was ample evidence Leigh knew his conduct was wrong.
