Christopher O’Sullivan was jailed for life for manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court in Cork on 31 March 2023, for the killing of Timothy “Timmy” Hourihane.

Hourihane was attacked near his tent in a field off Mardyke Walk, Cork, on 13 October 2019. The court heard that O’Sullivan and James Brady assaulted him; Hourihane later died in hospital.

O’Sullivan had pleaded guilty to manslaughter after initially facing a murder trial. Brady had already received an 11-year sentence for his part in the killing.

The judge said O’Sullivan had continued the attack after Brady stopped and cited his record of serious offences in imposing life imprisonment.
