Celyn Eadon was sentenced to 16 years, with the final two suspended, for manslaughter after his murder life sentence was overturned, reported on 22 February 2021. He killed his mother, Noreen Kelly, at their home in Derrycrieve, Islandeady, Castlebar, County Mayo, on 9 March 2011.

Eadon pleaded guilty to manslaughter after the Supreme Court overturned his murder conviction in 2019. The judge said he remained at risk of inflicting violence on the public and ordered structured release, supervision and probation, health and substance-use conditions linked to the suspended term.
