Cedric Ingle was sentenced to 18 months in prison, with the final six months suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 6 June 2024 for assault causing harm. The assault happened at an address in the Glenageary area on 4 April 2020.

Ingle, 50, pleaded guilty and had 19 previous convictions. The proceedings were reported on 6 June 2024. The judge said the offence took place in his father’s home, where the elderly man should have felt safe, and cited his vulnerability as an aggravating factor.

Judge Elma Sheahan also considered the guilty plea, Ingle’s drug and work history, and the fact that he had not come to garda attention in the previous four years as mitigating factors. She noted that the plea was made and accepted by the Director of Public Prosecution on the basis of recklessness.
