Carol Hawkins lost her appeal against a seven-year sentence for stealing €2.8 million from Adam Clayton, with the Court of Criminal Appeal’s decision reported on 7 November 2014.
The sentence was imposed at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in July 2012 after Hawkins was convicted of 181 theft counts involving Clayton’s bank accounts between 2004 and 2008.
The appeal court found no error of principle and declined to interfere with the sentence. Her appeal against conviction had also been dismissed the previous week.
