By Donal Gilhooly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A judge allowed the Carman’s Hall emergency homeless hostel in Dublin’s Liberties to open pending a legal challenge, in a ruling reported on 16 December 2016. The 65-bed facility is in a converted former community centre on Francis Street.

Mr Justice Seamus Noonan lifted a stay that had prevented the hostel opening while residents’ judicial review proceedings continue. The full hearing was listed for 18 January, with the court leaving the merits of the planning dispute unresolved.
