Cahir O’Higgins was sentenced to 32 months, with the final 16 months suspended, for assault causing harm and harassment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 22 July 2024. The offences involved a former employee who left his firm to establish his own practice in Dublin.

The harassment took place between 25 June 2020 and 11 February 2021, and the assault causing harm was against solicitor Stephen O’Mahony. Two further simple assault counts were taken into consideration.

The judge imposed conditions on the suspended portion, including that O’Higgins have no contact with O’Mahony or his wife and family. O’Higgins had pleaded guilty to the assault and harassment charges earlier in 2024.
