Brenda Emmanuel was jailed for three years, with the final nine months suspended, for knowingly making false statements at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 9 April 2025. The statements were made at Store Street Garda Station in Dublin.

She pleaded guilty to three charges covering statements made between October 2019 and December 2020. The court heard she made five statements in total.

Judge Ronan Munro set a four-year headline term, reduced it to three years for mitigation, and suspended the final nine months on strict conditions.

The judge cited the Garda investigation and the need for public deterrence. He also took into account that Emmanuel had no previous convictions.
