An Bord Pleanála accepted that it had made an error in its decision to grant permission for a housing development in Raheny. The proceedings were reported on 28 June 2018.

The permission allowed Crekav Trading, part of developer Marlet, to build 104 houses and 432 apartments on lands used by St Paul's College as six playing pitches. Separate challenges were brought by parties including Clonres CLG, Peter Sweetman, John Conway and the Louth Environmental Group, who sought to have the permission quashed.

When the case was mentioned before Mr Justice David Barniville on 28 June 2018, Fintan Valentine, BL, for the board said it accepted it had made an error in the way it recorded an appropriate assessment conducted on the site under the EU Habitats Directive. Counsel said the board was prepared to consent to orders quashing the planning decision.

The judge adjourned the matter to a date the following month so the parties and notice parties, including the developer, could consider the board’s position.
