Benny Murphy told Dublin District Coroner’s Court on 26 October 2023 that, 42 years after the Stardust fire, he was still reminded daily of seeing a girl burning near exit four.

Murphy said he saw the fire spread to the roof before the lights went out, and described smoke and people crowding at exit four. He said the door opened and he escaped.

He said he did not know whether the girl survived. The fire at the Stardust in Dublin killed 48 people on 14 February 1981.
